A Guided Look Back: The Journey of Skiza Fibers
Liza Russell's creative path has taken an unexpected turn — from large-scale pastel portraits and figure work to intricate collage art using recycled and repurposed materials, transformed into cards and ornaments no larger than 5" x 8", celebrating Maine wildlife.
In this talk, Liza will explore how old and new tools come together in her process — blending modern technology like scanning, graphic design software, and a paper die-cutting machine with time-honored techniques such as light boxes, flower pressing, deckling, painting, and drawing.

On Display Now: Our Signature Plein Air Painting Works of Art
This summer's Plein Air Event was a huge success with eight talented artists painting iconic images of the local area. Their artwork is on display through August where you will have an opportunity to vote for the Best in Show, and to acquire your own work through a silent auction. The Best in Show piece will be donated to Main Street Skowhegan for their annual fundraising drive.

Wood Fired Ceramics Artistry:
Meet Tim Cichocki
In 2006 Tim and John Cichocki built a 180 cubic-foot cross-draft wood-fired kiln— the only one of its kind in the entire state of Maine. Tim's pottery is the result of wood firing pieces to develop a natural glaze at extremely high temperatures over several days, with each piece absorbing salts and minerals from the wood. The flames create unique patterns around them, making every piece one-of-a-kind depending on its spot in the kiln.
