Jewels by Liz
Elizabeth Megyese

I collected stones all my young life and began beading about 15 years ago when I realized that I could make beautiful jewelry from some of those same stones.
Beaded jewelry has been worn by humans for thousands of years. Early people created stone, shell, nut, wood, and bone beads and wore them for simple adornment, used them as currency, and to signify class status within their society. Materials used in much of today’s costume jewelry often contains toxins such as cadmium, lead, or nickel which can cause skin irritations or other issues. If I am going to spend the time to create the piece, I will use the finest materials – I want you to feel pleasure when you wear my jewelry and to view each piece as a thing of beauty and warmth.
In my pieces I use sterling and fine silver along with copper, brass, and bronze metals. Colorful gemstones that will not fade, high-quality crystal beads, natural materials such as bone, seeds, wood, clay, and leather come together with 49-Strand professional beading wire to create colorful, durable jewelry that reflects my passion for color and texture.
